Tewkesbury Abbey from Winchcombe
Saturday 14th March 2026 - 14 miles / 7 hours

Winchcombe Abbey was once one of England's largest monasteries and a major centre for pilgrimage. Sadly, virtually nothing remains of the monastery, though the neighbouring church of St Peter is a worthy starting point.
The journey traverses some of the Costwolds foothills in a westerly direction, stopping at the attractive villages of Gotherington, Woolstone and Oxenton, before traversing the flatter land of the Severn Vale with the imposing tower of Tewkesbury Abbey ahead.
Tewkesbury is an attractive historic town and its Abbey church still dominates the surrounding countryside.
Cost: £30*. We will organise return transport, for which there will be a small additional charge. Lunch will be at the Shutters Inn, Gotherington, which is not included in the cost. Book here for this pilgrimage.
* Please note there is a reduced cost for additional group members. See here for more details.
