Winchcombe and Hailes Abbeys
Friday 21st August - 5.5 miles / 3 hours

Winchcombe Abbey and Hailes Abbey were two of the most visited monastic sites in Medieval times. Both suffered severely at the Dissolution, such that there is no trace left of Winchcombe Abbey and a few remains at Hailes. But the route between them includes the imposing Medieval church of St Peter in Winchcombe, the exquisite chapel at Hailes which features several ancient wall paintings, and a short climb up into the Cotswolds to afford impressive views.
