Cotswolds Climb to the Tyndale Monument

Sunday 20th September - 5 miles / 2.5 hours

554

Starting at the medieval church of St Mary in the pretty Cotswold town of Wotton under Edge, we walk on the Cotswold Way long distance path to the Tyndale monument and back again.  The monument commemorates the life of William Tyndale, who was born near here, and whose Bible translation into English formed the basis of the King James Bible.

We will climb uphill from Wotton town centre, walk along the Cotswold edge, passing through the attractive Westridge woods, to reach the monument.  For those with a head for heights, it's a spiral staircase of 121 steps to the top and a panoramic view over Gloucestershire and across the Severn valley to South Wales.  We will retrace our steps back to Wotton and finish with refreshments at a local pub.

Start time will be 4.00pm and finishing time around 7.00pm.

For more information about the monument, see here.

The cost for this walk is £25 or £15 for additional members of a group booking.  Book here for this pilgrimage.
