St Cuthbert's Way 2026 

In May 2026 a group of six intrepid pilgrims walked 65 miles of St Cuthbert's Way from Melrose to Lindisfarne, accompanied by Paul Revill as guide and Barbara Revill in a support vehicle.

The route connects with several places where St Cuthbert lived and served, and passes through a landscape which he would have known well.  It includes hills with majestic views, gentle riverside walking, an ancient Roman road, historic towns and the remains of several monasteries.  The walk culminated with a walk barefoot across the sands to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, one of England's most celebrated pilgrimage destinations.  

The churches along the route have gone to great effort to welcome passing pilgrims, and the group received warm hospitality along the way.  The group stayed in local hotels, and most days there was no need to travel off-route any distance to reach the accommodation.

New friendships were made and memories forged.  Here is what some of the group members said about the journey:
